The LA Signature Architecture Tour is a brilliant way to see the sights and sounds of Los Angeles. This 90 minute architectural walking tour treks approximately 1.5 miles of downtown Los Angeles, and examines more than a century's worth of modern and historic architecture. This tour of Los Angeles explores Bunker Hill -once a wealthy residential district, now a haven for some of Los Angeles' most significant architecture, as well as the Downtown Historic Core, and the Los Angeles Civic Center.
In addition to focusing in on specific architectural icons, we discuss the rise, and fall, and current renaissance of downtown Los Angeles on the LA Signature Architecture Tour. In 1997, less than 5,000 Angelenos lived in downtown LA. Today, that number exceeds 50,000. Historic buildings are being converted into lofts, and an abundance of commercial and cultural monuments are rising where it was once desolate. Consequently, downtown LA has a growing medley of architecture that represents the many faces and eras of its history, created by some of the most influential and recognized architects in the world.
Highlights of the LA Signature Architecture Tour include an interior look at George Wyman's magnificently light-filled Bradbury Building of 1893, a ride on the Angel's Flight funicular railway, and an up close look at Frank Gehry's Walt Disney Concert Hall.
The meeting location for the LA Signature Architecture Tour is at the foot of the Bunker Hill Steps, across the street from the Los Angeles Central Library (630 W 5th Street, LA 90071).
